RunCore T50 mSATA SATAIII 120GB Sandforce SF-2281 SSD Review

Update: If you have a Runcore SF-2281 based SSD, and you are having issues contact them to get the Firmware 3.3.2 update. This fixes a known issue in previous SF-2281 firmwares.

The Runcore T50 mSATA drive is by far the most interesting SSD that I have reviewed to date, unlike all the previous SSD drives this one is the size of a mini PCI Express or 2 SDHC cards. But as they say it isn't the size that counts, the Runcore T50 proves this saying right. In fact it boasted the higher read speed I have seen in ATTO. Although I had a few issues with the drive initially after the Sandforce SF-2281 firmware update this drive was rock solid for stability.

Test System: Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, Phenom X6 1090T, 8GB G.Skill 1333Ghz 7-7-7-21 DDR3.

Note: Because this is an AMD based system some of these benchmarks will be lower than on an Intel Sandy Bridge system (ATTO is higher on a Sandy Bridge, but AS SSD is higher on an AMD 890GX).

Amazing a read speed of 567MB/s, and write speed of 490MB/s.

These are very impressive benchmarks compared to my previous OCZ Vertex 2 EX 80GB.

27,386 read iops, that is fantastic and 20% higher than the Runcore V 2.5IN SATA III.

This drive has a very fast write speed, my previous OCZ Vertex 2 had a fastest write speed of 42.26MB/s compared to 127.3MB/s.

Just wow the benchmarks for this drive really speak for themselves with read speeds up to 567MB/s, and write speeds up to 490MB/s this drive is just amazing. If you are lucky enough to have a motherboard, laptop or netbook that takes one of these drives it should give you an increase in system performance. I look forward to the day when I can buy an AMD Fusion E-450 motherboard with an mSATA slot to build a low profile HTPC setup and Runcore T50 120GB.
